I have a slight obsession with koi XD The title is indeed the name of the colouring (sortof, this is exactly the Hi Ogon colour, but its very, very close)
I love love love koi, and all their colourings. My favourite are Shiro Utsuri and doitsu Kumonryu (the latter of which I'm going to make a painting of soon). This is done on and 8 by 10 inch (i think...i don't remember the exact size off hand) canvas, covered in gesso, and painted with acrylics. I used a pallate knife to raise the waves and texture to the koi itself, with the body smoothed and fins given ribs and whatnot. The koi is obviously not in realism, but rather, it's style after stylized tattoos. Some portions of the body and head have gold paint dry brushed onto it to give accent |
